About the Farm
Background
Located on a 10-acre parcel in Odessa, Florida, Cahaba Clubs Herbal Outpost began its hydroponic growing operation in 1999. Founded by Marvin, the farm has evolved over the past twenty-three years, becoming one of the most diversified growers in Florida. Known for its pristine micro-greens and edible flowers, the farm supplies products to five-star restaurants, world-renowned resorts, local eateries, cruise ships, and health food stores nationwide.
Practices
Utilizing practical hydroponics, Cahaba Clubs Herbal Outpost grows plants in a nutrient-rich water solution without soil. This method uses substantially less water than traditional farming, with nutrient-rich water delivered directly to the roots via micro-drip irrigation. The water is recycled, tested, and reused, ensuring efficient use of resources. Hydroponic farming at Cahaba yields 10-20 times more product per acre than conventional field production. The farm operates 56,000 square feet of environmentally controlled greenhouses and a 44,000 square foot lettuce facility, allowing for year-round production protected from external elements.
The Rest
Cahaba Clubs Herbal Outpost offers farm tours, events, and lodging in beautifully appointed cabins. The farm's serene setting, surrounded by large oaks, cypress, and a fish pond, provides a tranquil environment for visitors. The farm also features acres of edible landscaping, including peaches, pears, blackberries, blueberries, citrus, passion fruit, dragon fruit, and more. With over 100,000 square feet of hydroponic grow areas and greenhouses, the farm's annual production totals 2.5 million in sales.
