About the Farm
Background
Matt and Kelly started with two hives and committed to maintaining them naturally to preserve the purity of their honey. Over time, they expanded to eight bee yards across NW Harris County and established a retail store in Tomball, TX. They are known for their dedication to chemical-free beekeeping and producing high-quality honey.
Practices
The farm employs integrated pest management to combat pests like small hive beetles and varroa mites without chemicals. They use both Langstroth and Warre hives to determine which are healthier for the bees. The bees are allowed to build their own honeycomb without chemical-laden foundations, and queens are reared from high-performing hives that survive winter and local conditions. All honey is raw, unheated, and unfiltered, ensuring it retains its natural pollen and purity.
The Rest
The farm supports backyard beekeepers with supplies and classes at their store. They sell honey directly through their website and at local farmer’s markets, ensuring the markets are close enough for their bees to fly to. Their retail store on Main Street in Tomball offers honey, beeswax products, and beekeeping supplies. They also produce creamed honey and beeswax candles.
