About the Farm

Background

Since 1983, Broken Arrow Ranch has been supplying free-range, all-natural venison, antelope, wild boar, and other wild game meats of the highest quality to America's finest restaurants. Founded by Chris and Maeve Hughes, the ranch has built a reputation for delivering pure, wild meat to discerning chefs and home cooks alike. Over the years, they have expanded their offerings to include online sales, making their unique products accessible to a wider audience.

Practices

The animals are field harvested from over 150 different ranches located in central and south Texas. The deer and antelope are free-ranging, feeding on natural grasses and other vegetation, which imparts complex natural flavors into the meat. The ranch uses a unique field harvesting system designed and approved by the Texas Department of Health. Every animal is harvested under full government inspection, ensuring safety and quality. The Axis deer and South Texas Antelope are tropical species that do not accumulate significant body fat deposits, resulting in meat that is lower in calories, fat, and cholesterol compared to traditional beef and even skinless chicken breast.

The Rest

Broken Arrow Ranch offers a variety of products including wild venison, wild boar, Texas quail, wild game sausages, and farmed venison. They also provide combination packages, pet products, and gift cards. Their mission emphasizes honoring animals, improving land health, and promoting a sustainable economy around wild game. The ranch prides itself on the purity of its products and the experience it provides to chefs, food enthusiasts, and diet-restricted individuals.
