About the Farm

Background

Situated on 41 acres of transitional silvopasture in the Quiet Corner of Connecticut, the farm has developed a reputation for its commitment to full-circle sustainability and flavor. As idealistic, first-generation farmers, they have built their business around the principles of ethical, humane, and sustainable animal husbandry. The farm is known for its Animal Welfare Approved livestock and Certified Grassfed sheep and goats, and it sells directly to customers at the farm and assorted farmers markets.

Practices

The farm employs intensively managed rotational grazing year-round, moving animals between 43 paddocks within a 20-acre perimeter. The animals, including Kiko goats, Icelandic sheep, heritage breed pigs, and laying hens, live on pasture all year long and are never confined. They breed according to their natural cycles and birth unassisted on pasture. The farm's livestock management practices ensure that animals can express their natural behaviors, improving the quality and fertility of the land. Heritage breed animals are chosen for their ability to thrive in the New England climate. The farm also supplements its pigs and chickens with soy-free, corn-free, non-GMO, and organic feed.

The Rest

The farm raises bees that contribute to pollination both on the farm and in the surrounding neighborhood. The bees also enhance the farm's ecosystem by pollinating plants, trees, flowers, and grasses. The farm offers cuts of goat and lamb harvested in the fall, with pork and multicolored eggs available year-round. The farm's commitment to regenerative farming practices not only improves land fertility but also results in exceptional meat quality.
