About the Farm
Background
Boerson Farm's journey began after a transformative experience on a Costa Rican coffee farm, leading its founders to seek a deeper connection to the land. Over the years, they transitioned from renting to owning a beautiful 69-acre piece of land in Green Lake County, Wisconsin, in collaboration with the Green Lake Conservancy. The farm has grown into a community-supported venture, now entering its 15th season of providing high-quality food to local communities.
Practices
Boerson Farm adheres to regenerative agricultural practices that build soil health and reduce reliance on external inputs. They employ rotational grazing, compost production, perennial crops, and limited tillage to enhance soil carbon and biodiversity. The farm's guiding principle is to work in harmony with nature, sequestering carbon through photosynthesis and improving land viability. The animals, including Suffolk Punch draft horses and honeybees, are raised as naturally as possible, though not certified organic due to local processing limitations.
The Rest
Boerson Farm offers products through a CSA program, an Online Farm Store, and at the Oshkosh Farmers Market. The farm relies on a dedicated group of volunteers for various tasks, from planting to engine maintenance. Their commitment to community and environmental stewardship is evident in every aspect of their operation.
