About the Farm
Background
Blawesome is based in Chapel Hill and is co-operated by a young man living with autism. The farm is part of the social care farming movement, which uses farming as a therapeutic intervention to improve health, social, and vocational outcomes for vulnerable populations. Blawesome is known for growing over 75 varieties of seasonal, organic cut flowers, perennials, and herbs, and for creating custom designs that blend native wildflowers with cultivated botanicals.
Practices
Blawesome emphasizes the art and practice of growing, designing, and delivering organic cut flowers to promote self, environmental, and community sustainability. The farm's commitment to organic practices ensures that all flowers are grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, fostering a healthier ecosystem.
The Rest
Blawesome's unique aspect lies in its community-building spirit, represented through initiatives like the Good Karma Initiative, where for every Good Karma Bouquet sold, one is donated to someone in the community who is often unacknowledged or underappreciated. The farm also offers seasonal flower CSA subscriptions, tours, workshops, and collaborates on special projects like the Renaissance Faire.
