About the Farm
Background
The farm has deep roots in Texas, with extensive backgrounds in growing and preparing produce. The current generation continues the legacy of a father who was a certified Master Gardener and taught gardening across the state. The farm is now expanding with the addition of Dr. Tyler Cullender, a microbiologist with a passion for sustainable farming, who joined after an internship at Mountain Dell Farm in New York.
Practices
The farm employs regenerative techniques, using fish emulsion, horse and cattle manure, and farm-made compost for fertilization. Water-efficient 'drip-tape' irrigation is used, supplemented by harvested rainwater or well water. Seeds are harvested on-site or sourced from Seed Savers Exchange and other organic seed companies. Soil management includes adjusting pH with wood ash for specific crops. The farm focuses on growing, harvesting, and processing all produce on-site.
The Rest
The farm is launching its first CSA program and increasing its growing area. The soil in East Texas is conducive to many plants, with specific adjustments made for crops like okra, tomatoes, and stone fruit trees. The farm's motto emphasizes consuming and sharing their produce.
