About the Farm
Background
Owned and operated by the Berger family, the farm began as a dairy operation before transitioning to grassfed beef. Jonathan and Deb Berger, both raised on family farms and educated in agriculture at Ohio State University, started the farm with a focus on family time and sustainable practices. The entire family participates in the farm's operations, with their children taking on various roles.
Practices
The farm raises 100% grassfed beef, avoiding artificial fertilizers, hormones, antibiotics, insecticides, and herbicides. Cattle are rotated through pastures regularly, benefiting both the animals and the land. During extreme weather, cattle are brought onto a straw pack and fed dry stored forages. The farm harvests the spring flush of grass to feed in the winter, allowing for year-round beef slaughter scheduling. They emphasize the importance of clean and sustainable farming, sourcing calves that are 100% grassfed and free from growth-promoting substances.
The Rest
The farm offers beef by the whole, half, split half, and ground beef by the pound, along with selected cuts. They do not have an on-farm store and conduct no business on Sundays. Customers are encouraged to visit the farm to see their practices firsthand. The farm also provides non-GMO, antibiotic, and ractopamine-free pork. Payment options include Zelle, Venmo, Cash App, check, and cash to avoid credit purchase fees.
