About the Farm
Background
The CSA was started by Ben and Chelsea Kline in Alpena, MI to provide their family and community with access to locally produced food. They are committed to the idea that eating locally benefits the community's economy, food supply stability, and personal relationships with food. The CSA model allows members to support farmers and commit to local projects, ensuring a stable economic base for sustainable farming practices.
Practices
The CSA operates on a model where members commit to a weekly delivery of fresh produce for a 14-week harvest season. This commitment allows the farmers to plan their growing season, cover initial costs, and ensure a market for their produce. The focus is on providing fresh, local, and sustainably produced produce, with an emphasis on health-conscious farming methods.
The Rest
The CSA offers single (1-2 people) or family (3-4 people) shares for $350 and $650 respectively, averaging about $12 per week per person. There are four different share pick-up times and locations listed in the membership agreement. Additionally, their produce will be available at the Alpena Farmer's Market.
