About the Farm
Background
For over 30 years, the Reed Family has passionately engaged in beekeeping and honey production, overcoming numerous challenges such as habitat loss, varroa mites, and chemical use. Their journey has been marked by a commitment to maintaining the health of their honeybee colonies and producing high-quality honey.
Practices
The farm selects land far from subdivisions and neighborhoods, focusing on areas with natural vegetation like youpon, wildflowers, rattan, privet, tallow, horsemint, and goldenrod. This approach ensures the production of honey from a myriad of wild nectars and pollens. They prioritize the health of their bees by providing excellent nutrition, clean environments, and top-tier genetics. The farm produces its own 'TOP SHELF' queens from exceptional stock, ensuring gentle and productive colonies.
The Rest
Their honey is available at selected stores and can be purchased in bulk upon request. The farm offers a variety of honey types, including Texas Wildflower, South Texas Huajilla (Brush), and their BEEyond Amazing Creamed Honey. They are transitioning back to retailing their honey directly to consumers through their website.
