About the Farm
Background
Located just east of Cridersville and minutes from Lima, Ohio, this family-run farm began with a simple garden and a roadside stand. Over time, it has grown to become a beloved local supplier, deeply rooted in the community. Bret, Lynn, and Madelyn, along with their extended family, manage the farm, which now spans five acres of owned land and seven acres of rented land for specific crops like sweet corn, black raspberries, and pumpkins.
Practices
The farm emphasizes minimal herbicide and pesticide use, striving to be as natural as possible. Early planting is facilitated by two high tunnels, each approximately 30' x 96', covered with two layers of 6 mil plastic to retain heat and improve environmental control. These tunnels allow for the availability of early season greens by mid-April, with outdoor planting commencing after the last frost.
The Rest
Visitors are encouraged to explore the Barn Store, a repurposed 100-year-old barn originally used as a corn crib, now filled with rare, retro, and repurposed treasures. The farm also offers a Community Supported Agricultural (CSA) program and participates in various local festivals and craft shows, such as the Laurel Oaks Fall Festival and the Christmas in October Show in Findlay, Ohio. Additionally, the farm accepts Senior's Nutrition Coupons and provides seasonal produce boxes as an alternative to the CSA program.
