About the Farm
Background
The high mountain pasture in Nederland, Colorado has been family-owned since 1968, while the high plains ranch south of Elizabeth, Colorado has been family-owned and operated since 1990. For over 40 years, the family has been producing clean, lean freezer beef for direct sales to consumers.
Practices
Cattle are fed over the summer on grass in the high mountain pasture, without the use of growth hormones or antibiotics. They live healthy lives with exercise, plenty of grass, fresh mountain spring water, and open space. The ranch employs a rotational grazing system to prevent overgrazing and ensure the feed remains fresh and nutritious. Native pasture is the primary source of energy for the beef cattle, resulting in meat that is clean and lean.
The Rest
Beef is sold to customers in early September each year, with a minimum order of 1/4 of a beef. The ranch assists customers in communicating specific cutting and packing requirements to the processor, Arapahoe Packing in Lafayette, Colorado. The best way to order is to split a half with someone you know.
