About the Farm
Background
Farming in the Apple River Valley and surrounding hills near Elizabeth in Jo Daviess County, Illinois, the Arnold family represents the fourth and fifth generations to cultivate this land. Over the years, they have become known for their commitment to producing pure, wholesome, and flavorful meat without the use of chemicals, antibiotics, or growth hormones.
Practices
The farm employs a pasture-based system, utilizing rotational grazing for livestock and crop rotations for fields to minimize commercial inputs. Animals are fed non-GMO grains, hay, and grass raised on the farm, with no antibiotics, growth hormones, or animal by-products. Meat is processed locally at USDA-inspected plants without irradiation or added water, ensuring high quality and freshness.
The Rest
Products can be purchased directly from the farm by appointment, at selected northwestern Illinois farmer’s markets, or through delivery to the Chicago area. The farm offers individual cuts, quantity packages, and sides/whole animals year-round. Customers can easily order through the farm's website shopping cart, and the farm encourages feedback and questions from their customers.
