About the Farm

Background

Arden Farms began in 1957 as a cattle and pine tree farm in south Mississippi. Initially, the farm bred Registered Angus cattle before transitioning to commercial cattle. Over the years, the focus shifted to Honey Bees and Registered Dorper sheep under the ownership of Charles and Terri Wilson. Honey Bees have been part of the farm since the late 1940s for personal use, with significant expansion starting in 1989, growing to approximately 200 colonies.

Practices

The farm raises Registered Dorper sheep, primarily sold as breeding stock, with some being forage finished and sold as lambs delivered for processing. Honey Bees are managed to maintain a robust population, supporting both pollination and honey production.

The Rest

The farm's Honey Bees and Dorper sheep are integral to its operations, with the bees having a long history on the farm and the sheep contributing to both breeding and meat production.
