About the Farm

Background

Annabessacook Farm, one of the earliest in Winthrop, is set on 25 acres with lake frontage on Lake Annabessacook. The farm features a restored 1810 farmhouse and is deeply rooted in its community, offering fresh food bank services, community gardens, and CSA shares each season.

Practices

The farm employs organic farming methods and strives for self-sufficiency. It raises pastured sheep, pigs, chickens, and goats, and produces its own yogurt, cheese, bread, and a variety of pickles and preserves. The emphasis is on creating gourmet farm-to-table meals from scratch.

The Rest

Visitors can stay overnight in the bed & breakfast, enjoy a full farm breakfast, and purchase vegetables, fruit, herbs, and the farm's famous magic eggs at the seasonal farm stand. The farm also offers a range of activities such as swimming, boating, fishing, horseback riding, hiking, cross-country skiing, and more. It is an ideal venue for small weddings, receptions, retreats, family reunions, conferences, and other events. Pets may be boarded in the barn during stays.
