About the Farm
Background
The farm is centered around a hundred-year-old cabin where alpacas graze and interact with visitors. Known for their friendly nature, each alpaca has a unique name and personality, making visits memorable. The farm is fortunate to steward the rare Suri alpaca, which comprises only 6% of the global alpaca population.
Practices
The farm emphasizes the importance of Suri fiber, offering a selection of raw fleece, roving, yarns, and rugs. They provide comprehensive support to clients, covering aspects from husbandry to business planning. During the growing season, the farm also cultivates vegetables and fruit, and engages in composting. Sustainability is a key practice, with compost carefully attended to and enriched by worms. Additionally, the farm has integrated beekeeping, with twenty hives contributing to pollination and honey production.
The Rest
Visitors are encouraged to arrange appointments to meet the alpacas and explore the farm's products. The farm also sells its produce and compost directly. Blue Ridge Honey has added twenty hives to the farm, enhancing its ecological diversity.
