About the Farm
Background
Adoption Acres was established by a family formed through adoption in November 2009. They moved to their 4-acre farm in August 2010 and have since been dedicated to creating a sustainable agricultural business. Their motto is 'Local Food from our Family to Yours'.
Practices
The farm raises Freedom Ranger meat chickens, a breed developed in France for superior pasture performance. They also focus on rare and heritage breeds, including Kathadin sheep, which are hair sheep that do not require shearing, and Mulefoot pigs known for their outstanding meat quality. Honey production is done in small quantities, typically available in September.
The Rest
Chicken and duck eggs are available for sale in a self-serve sales room on the farm, with chicken meat available in the summer and turkey in the fall. Duck meat is available in limited quantities and must be pre-ordered. All sales are conducted on the farm, and they encourage customers to follow their Facebook fan page for updates.
