About the Farm
Background
Adelaida Springs Ranch has spent 20 years mastering the arts of ranching, winemaking, and land stewardship. Despite not coming from agricultural backgrounds, the family-owned business has learned through hands-on experience and guidance from expert advisors. They are dedicated to creating products that reflect the natural beauty and bounty of their land.
Practices
The ranch employs a holistic approach to land management, rotating cattle carefully from pasture to pasture to maintain soil integrity and support wildlife. Sheep are used as natural mowers and fertilizers in the vineyards, minimizing the need for chemical pesticides and fertilizers. The cattle and sheep are bred and raised naturally, grazing freely on the ranch's rich spring grasses and legumes, which produce 'grass fat' cattle at two years without dietary supplements or additives. Harvesting is done on-site with a USDA-inspected mobile unit, and the beef is dry-aged for 2-3 weeks before being vacuum packed and frozen.
The Rest
Adelaida Springs Ranch offers 25-pound boxes of beef, 20-pound boxes of ground beef, and 10-pound boxes of organ meats, shipping exclusively within California. They also provide discounts on wine, events, and other ranch products to their customers. The ranch emphasizes a hands-on approach, with family members involved in every aspect of the operation, from herding cattle to bottling wine. Visitors can pick up their meat locally at J&R Meats in Paso Robles or at the ranch's tasting room.
