About the Farm
Background
Videnovich Farms is a second-generation American farm with a farming heritage that spans centuries in southeastern Europe. Relatives of the farm's founders still cultivate land in eastern Serbia, near the Bulgarian and Romanian borders. Over the years, the farm has become known for its diverse seasonal crops and a strong connection to its European roots.
Practices
The farm emphasizes diversified crop production, focusing on peppers, eggplants, and lamb, while also growing a variety of seasonal vegetables. The mixed-breed flock provides natural-colored wool, which is processed into yarn and knitwear. The farm maintains a commitment to traditional farming methods that reflect its southeastern European heritage.
The Rest
Videnovich Farms delivers vegetables to Chicago twice weekly during the growing season and participates in fall and winter craft fairs in the city. They offer knitting and spinning classes and accept wholesale and custom vegetable-growing orders for chefs, restaurants, and retailers.
