About the Farm
Background
Tewes Poultry Farm began with John Tewes on what is now Charter Oak in Edgewood, KY, focusing initially on hatching and raising chickens. In March of 1944, he relocated his family to Erlanger, where the farm remains today. As his family expanded to 17 children, so did his sales to the community, providing fresh eggs, chickens, and turkeys. The farm has since become a local landmark and is the only fresh poultry producer in Northern Kentucky. Dan Tewes, the 13th child, along with his wife Darlene and their family, currently manage the farm, with extended family assisting during the holidays.
Practices
The farm raises chickens year-round for both eggs and meat, emphasizing the quality and freshness of their products. They also specialize in providing free-range turkeys, particularly around the holiday season, ensuring that customers receive fresh, ready-to-cook poultry.
The Rest
The farm is renowned for its fresh turkeys, with many customers claiming that once you try a fresh turkey, you'll never go back to frozen. They sell approximately 3,000 free-range turkeys in November and December. Customers can order their Thanksgiving turkeys online starting November 1st, and the extended Tewes family helps out during the busy holiday season.
