Background
Farming since 1980, this farm has been Certified Organic by California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) since 1987. Known for their commitment to growing the highest quality produce without the use of toxic chemicals, they have built a reputation for excellence over a 37-year career in production agriculture.
Practices
The farm's fertility program relies heavily on aerobically composted dairy manure and carefully composted urban greenwaste, which power soil microbes and are complemented by balanced additions of rock minerals like limestone. This approach enhances crop resistance to disease and insect attacks. Careful crop rotations and a diverse farmscape encourage a beneficial insect community that helps control pests. Non-toxic soaps, oils, and biological pesticides are used when necessary. The farm adheres to USDA-defined organic standards and is inspected and approved by the USDA-accredited California Certified Organic Farmers.
The Rest
The farm produces a wide variety of vegetables including carrots, fennel, parsnips, beets, spinach, cucumbers, squash, dill, escarole, potatoes, peppers, basil, tomatoes, eggplant, watermelon, turnips, kale, choy, leeks, brussels sprouts, and rutabagas. They take pride in produce grown, harvested, and shipped with meticulous care and attention to detail.
