About the Farm
Background
The farm has been on the same 10-acre site since 1919, started by Keith’s Grandpa Ed when he moved down the road from his parents. Originally a dairy farm, it transitioned to growing row crops and sweet corn after Highway 9 was built through their largest barn. Keith’s parents, Ed and Edith, started a roadside stand in 1983, which evolved into a popular destination for families to pick pumpkins. In 2000, the farm moved to its current location across Highway 9, where it became known as the Family Adventure Farm with the 'Big Red Barn.'
Practices
The farm grows a wide variety of vegetable crops without the use of chemicals, rotating 5 acres for active vegetable farming while the other five are in a green manure crop. They have been working on habitat restoration projects in cooperation with the Snohomish Conservation District.
The Rest
The farm hosts a farm market carrying local berries, fresh tree fruits, honey, preserves, and cider. Seasonal events include the Pumpkin Field Festival every Sunday in October, a corn maze, and Christmas tree selection. The farm encourages families to become involved with agriculture by experiencing where their food comes from.
