About the Farm
Background
Alessia and Virginia, who grew up in Ithaca, New York, met on their high school rowing team and later attended Cornell’s School of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Their passion for farming was ignited at Dilmun Hill, Cornell’s student-run farm. After various agricultural adventures across the US, they managed Crystal Spring Farm’s vegetable CSA in Brunswick for two years before starting their own farm.
Practices
The farm relies on cultivating a healthy farm ecosystem without synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. They apply organic compost, provide natural habitats for beneficial organisms, use cover cropping, and practice crop rotation.
The Rest
The farm is CSA-focused, committed to providing members with high-quality produce and great abundance through a Free-Choice CSA model. Alessia has a background in managing student-run farms, working as a naturalist, and livestock farming, while Virginia has experience as a seabird biologist, environmental educator, and working on various farms. Both have deep connections to food and farming from their family backgrounds.
