About the Farm
Background
Located on 64 acres of historic farmland along the Chattahoochee River, the farm was established by Ashley Rodgers, who has been farming organically in Georgia for her entire career. The farm is named in honor of Ashley's father, Robert George Rodgers, who passed away in 2011. Ashley purchased the land in 2016 and has since become one of the youngest female organic farm owners and operators in Georgia. The farm is known for its quality organic produce, which is sold to local restaurants and at farmers markets in Atlanta.
Practices
The farm employs medium-scale, mechanized production methods, utilizing tractors, tools, and machinery while adhering to organic practices. Key sustainable farming techniques include composting, cover cropping, and crop rotation. The farm also uses an integrated pest management approach, minimizing the use of sprays and relying on OMRI-approved products. The soil is respected and nurtured through these practices, ensuring the health and vitality of the land.
The Rest
The farm builds community awareness of local, seasonal, organic food by providing certified organic produce to the local community. They sell their produce at the Peachtree Road Farmers Market, The Grant Park Farmers Market, Fresh Harvest of Georgia, and the Hyatt Regency in downtown Atlanta. Additionally, they offer a weekly farm box program (CSA) for individuals, couples, and families. The farm is not open to the public without a scheduled meeting or tour.
