About the Farm
Background
Derek and Catherine, founders of Grace's Grass Fed, come from families with multi-generational ties to the industrial food production model. They chose a different path, earning degrees and taking corporate jobs until their firstborn, Mary Grace, was diagnosed with autism. This life event led them to start a first-generation pasture-based farm to raise their kids with a connection to animals, their food, and the land.
Practices
The farm employs regenerative grazing practices, raising grass genetic cattle and grass master hair sheep on diverse natural pastures. They also use Maremma Anatolian Shepherd cross guard dogs to protect their livestock. The focus is on reconnecting animals with the land and people with their food, ensuring transparency and community involvement in the food production process.
The Rest
Visitors are welcome to tour the Missouri farm, meet the family, and participate in the local food culture. The farm encourages customers to know their farmer by name and understand how their food is produced, promoting community inspection as a commitment to understanding the food system.
