About the Farm
Background
The farm is a revitalization of a historic family farm that has seen generations of farmers raising hogs, tobacco, dairy cows, and hay. Joshua and Kristina, who both grew up on White Oak River Road, returned to their roots after a decade of traveling with the Air Force. They began their journey in 2020, transforming the land that was once commercially farmed or neglected into a thriving source of high-quality food for their community. The farm's legacy includes a dairy farm under Joshua's grandfather and a pig farm before that.
Practices
The farm employs regenerative agricultural practices, focusing on soil rejuvenation and humane animal treatment. Animals, including poultry and pigs, are raised on pasture 24/7 and moved regularly to fresh grasses, which enhances soil health and nutrient content in the meat and eggs. The farm uses only Non-GMO feed grown and milled by a North Carolina farmer, and their meats are free from antibiotics and hormones. They grow seasonal produce and maintain a chemical-free U-Pick strawberry patch in the spring. Natural fertilizers like manure, coffee grounds, and blood meal are used to enrich the soil, avoiding harsh herbicides and pesticides.
The Rest
The farm offers a variety of educational opportunities, including farm tours and kid camps, allowing visitors to experience farm life firsthand. They also provide a range of products, including meats, eggs, and produce, available for purchase online with options for pick-up, drop-off, or delivery. The farm is veteran-owned and operated, and they emphasize their mission to glorify God through their farming practices and community service.
