About the Farm

Background

Thirty-four years ago, an energetic young couple discovered an empty hilltop in Newcastle, California, and transformed it into a thriving farm and homestead. Over the decades, they cultivated a diverse array of fruits, with Satsuma mandarins becoming their primary crop. Recently, the farm was sold to a new couple who are eager to continue the tradition and maintain the farm's legacy.

Practices

The farm employs organic methods, using no pesticides or herbicides. They utilize Kaolin Clay, a fine organic powder, to protect fruit and leaves from sunburn and deter insects. This practice reflects their commitment to maintaining the health of their crops and the surrounding ecosystem.

The Rest

The farm offers sales from November to December and occasionally hosts open houses for citrus tastings. They grow a variety of fruits including Meyer lemons, blood oranges, limes, Oro Blanco grapefruit, pomegranates, persimmons, and several types of avocados. Their produce is known for its exceptional quality and flavor, particularly the sweet, seedless, and easy-to-peel Satsuma mandarins.
