About the Farm

Background

Over seventy years ago, the farm began with John and Lucile selling produce off their porch. Now in its third generation, the farm has grown significantly, selling fresh, homegrown produce across Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska. The farm has adapted to meet customer needs while maintaining a commitment to good soil stewardship. The farm's 250 acres are pollinated by their own honey bees and harvested by a dedicated team. Known for its pick-your-own strawberries and blackberries, the farm also offers raw honey, grass-fed beef, and a variety of other specialized products. The pumpkin patch is the largest in the area and continues to expand each year.

Practices

The farm emphasizes good stewardship of the soil, ensuring that their 250 acres of fruits and vegetables are pollinated by their own honey bees. They grow a wide variety of produce, including tomatoes, sweet corn, eggplant, cabbage, peppers, zucchini, cucumbers, green beans, watermelons, melons, and cantaloupes. The farm also raises grass-fed and finished beef and pasture-raised eggs. Compost and topsoil mixtures are available, designed to create a garden that is shovel-ready.

The Rest

The farm offers a retail shop where fresh produce, topsoil, compost, cedar mulch, and straw can be purchased. They also carry La Vencedora Mexican Vanilla, raw local honey, jams, salsas, natural soaps, bedding plants, and vegetable plants. As an agritourism location, the farm provides barn party and bonfire space rentals, hayrack rides, corn mazes, a pumpkin patch, and a petting zoo. During the winter, they offer fresh cut and hand-chosen Christmas trees, wreaths, and garlands. The farm participates in Farmers' Markets in Manhattan, Topeka, and Junction City. Store hours vary by season, and they accept all methods of payment, including SNAP.
