About the Farm
Background
Brad’s Farm Market in Harford County, Maryland started in 1992 when Brad Milton opened his two stands and rented his first farm of 17 acres. Over the years, the farm has grown to include a market on the home farm, three satellite stands, and participation in the Bel Air Farmers’ Market for over 22 years. Brad began farming during summers while attending college and transitioned to full-time farming after graduation. In 2000, he bought his first piece of farmland, adding a farm stand and greenhouses. Brad and his wife Karin, along with their three children, manage multiple stands, greenhouses, employees, and farms.
Practices
The farm raises pigs and an Angus beef herd on two of its farms, with cattle grazing on the rolling countryside in the Deer Creek Valley. The farms also produce hay forage and grain to feed the livestock throughout the year. The beef is grass and grain-fed, hormone-free, and steroid-free, while the pigs are grain-fed with no added hormones.
The Rest
Starting September 1, the farm features a corn maze, and in October, free hay rides to the Pumpkin Patch are available on weekends and for private bookings during the week. The CSA program runs from May through October, providing a healthy supply of seasonal fresh vegetables. The farm market offers a variety of activities and produce throughout the year, including greenhouse flowers in May, summer produce in August, and fall festivities in October. The farm is a proud member of the Maryland Farm Bureau and PA Vegetable Grower’s Association.
