About the Farm
Background
Established in 2003, the farm began with Huacaya Alpacas and two llamas, later expanding to include French Angora rabbits. Initially focused on alpacas, the farm shifted its focus to llamas and rabbits over time. The breeding program has produced animals known for their fiber quality, temperament, and structural soundness. The farm has downsized and no longer breeds alpacas, with the last one passing away in 2022.
Practices
The farm emphasizes breeding for fiber quality, temperament, and structural soundness. Llamas are bred for their guarding tendencies and fiber, while French Angora rabbits are bred for their high-quality fiber. The farm also maintains a small spinners flock of sheep, including Finn Sheep and a Wensleydale/Leister Longwool cross. The farm store offers a variety of natural fibers, yarns, rovings, and finished products.
The Rest
The farm offers stud services for alpacas, farm tours by appointment, and free internships for those interested in learning about fiber animals. Discounts are available on animals purchased by former interns. The farm is a member of the American Rabbit Breeders Association (ARBA) and The Greater Appalachian Lama Association (GALA).
