About the Farm
Background
The farm is a family-run operation with a strong emphasis on community supported agriculture (CSA). They have nearly 75 customers and are looking to expand. The family, including their children, actively participates in growing food, tending to animals, and embracing a homesteading lifestyle. The farm is known for its popular CSA shares, which often sell out quickly, leading to a waiting list each year.
Practices
The farm grows everything naturally using organic soil and avoids harmful chemicals, pesticides, and fertilizers. They emphasize love and compassion in their farming methods. The CSA model provides financial security and resilience for the farm, allowing them to invest in seeds, compost, and other necessary supplies early in the year. Members share in the harvest's ups and downs, fostering a deep connection to the farm's seasonal rhythms.
The Rest
The farm offers internships for those interested in learning about sustainable farming. At the end of the season, they host a large farm tour with music and food. CSA members can choose from various pickup locations, including Agape Farm, South Hill, the Valley, Kendall Yards, and Greenbluff at Hidden Acres. The CSA season runs from May to October, offering both full and half shares, with options for produce and flower arrangements. The farm emphasizes the importance of supporting local farmers to boost the local economy and ensure the community thrives.
