The Garden of Tomorrow Festival, Los Angeles
About the Event
THE LIBRARY OF ESOTERICA & HOUSE OF HACKNEY PRESENT:
THE GARDEN OF TOMORROW 2025
SATURDAY JULY 26 IN LOS ANGELES
We're hosting a festival of ideas alongside our community and kin - a gathering to re-enchant ourselves with the magick of Nature, to remember our rightful place within it, and to celebrate the power of connection in cultivating a flourishing future.
ABOUT THE GARDEN OF TOMORROW
The Garden of Tomorrow Festival is a collective of positive disruptors, activists, artists and organisations. We believe in the power of creativity and collaboration to make a change. We believe in a future where we are a part of Nature, not apart from it.
The Garden is a place where we plant and cultivate ideas, transforming radical vision into inspiring action to urgently protect the collective garden we call home: our planet.
It is an open-to-all programme designed to ignite new ways of being and doing, rooted in honouring all life on Earth. This is a not-for-profit event, all profits will be donated to the Altadena Seed Library.
WHY?
In the face of the Climate & Nature crises, it is a space where imagination meets action, where bold ideas take root, and where new blueprints for a regenerative future begin to flourish, showing how we can live and work in harmony with the natural world.
More than just a gathering, it serves as a think tank for change. Through a programme of talks and workshops, and activations, it seeks to inspire people to rethink the way we live, create, and consume - shifting towards practices that are in true service to our planet and all living beings.
EVENTS
RADICAL RE-ENCHANTMENT
What if we reclaimed wonder as a catalyst for change?
PANEL TALK
With The Library of Esoterica editor & author, Jessica Hundley, writer & curator, Pam Grossman, Aditi Mayer and artist Lily Kwong
The natural world is a place of magick; let’s re-enchant ourselves with the wonder all around us.
We’ll be exploring re-enchantment and reconnection with Nature as radical acts of protection - offering an alternative to the prevailing climate narrative of alarm and anxiety. We’re choosing beauty, wonder and reverence as catalysts for change.
When we shift the story from depletion to abundance and from separation to belonging, we remember that caring for the Earth isn’t just a matter of science or policy, it’s a matter of love.
By reclaiming wonder as a guiding force, we begin to see climate action not as an obligation, but as an act of devotion - something deeply joyful, rooted in connection, and alive with possibility.
WE ARE NATURE
How words change worlds: what if remembering we are Nature is the answer to our collective healing?
PANEL TALK
With Queer Brown Vegan, Isaias Hernandez, House of Hackney founder, Frieda Gormley, artist & food writer Jess Damuck and Moon Canyon’s Kristen Caissie
Language shapes how we see the world - and when we see ourselves as part of Nature, we are far more likely to protect it.
This remembering sparked the We Are Nature campaign - an initiative led by Lawyers for Nature and House of Hackney, calling on major English-language dictionaries to redefine the word Nature, which has long excluded humans. The campaign successfully persuaded the Oxford English Dictionary to update their definition to include humans, and is now in discussion with leading American dictionaries; with support from voices such as Robin Wall Kimmerer, Joanna Macy, Lauret Savoy, Janine Benyus, and many others.
The panel will explore why all this matters: the power of language, the societal impact of redefining Nature, and the practical steps we can take to bridge the perceived divide between people and planet by deepening our awareness and relationship with the living world.
