COST: Requested donation of $20 per adult at the gate. Please donate more if you can afford it. No one will be denied entry.
Every Spring, Doodad Farm hosts a tribute/fundraiser event to help a local non-profit that serves our community. This year our tribute celebrates the songs of the late 1960s and early 1970s that arose from the Laurel Canyon area north of Los Angeles. There was definitely something magic going on up in those hills, where artists like Jackson Browne, The Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, Joni Mitchell, the Beach Boys, CSN, Buffalo Springfield, and so many others built an artistic community that became a fountainhead of classic, original music. We have a long list of renowned regional musicians volunteering to perform their versions of these enduring songs.
This year we're donating every donated dollar to The Arc of High Point, a local group that is committed to securing for all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities the opportunity to choose and realize their goals of where and how they learn, live, work, and play. Their work is vital to our area, and this tribute is our way of thanking them for their commitment.
EVERYONE is welcome, as always, to enjoy this event. Feel free to bring chairs, coolers, picnics, and friendly pets. We'll also have a food truck for your dining pleasure. We'll have games and activities for kids and adults as well.
We're asking for at least a $20 cash donation per adult as you enter the event space, every cent of which goes to The Arc of High Point. This 100% policy is possible because all of our generous performers are volunteers, as well as all of our helpers. No guests will be turned away if they can't afford entry, but we hope that everyone will contribute according to their ability to support The Arc of High Point's important work.
FOOD: We have our favorite vendor, D&J Catering to meet your dinner needs. we're talking home cooked comfort food. Of course, you can bring your own picnic or even have food delivered if you like.
HOW YOU CAN HELP: First, SPREAD THE WORD about this unique event through social media and word of mouth. Second, if you'd like to volunteer to help prepare for this show, or want to help during the event, we'd appreciate your assistance. Third, if you'd like to volunteer to help The Arc of High Point or wish to make your own direct donation, go to arcofhp.org to learn more.
