Join Santa Barbara Permaculture Network Memorial Day weekend with our sponsored art square at the Annual I Madonnari Chalk Art Festival that takes place every Memorial Day weekend at the Old Mission. Sponsored by the Children’s Creative Project, Santa Barbara Permaculture Network began participating with a nature inspired art square in 2020 , with wide ranging themes that featured beaver & wetlands, the amazing world of fungi; kelp forests & biologically alive & healthy soils.



This year’s theme shares the work of ecological design pioneer John Todd and his “Living Machines” that work with nature using only sunlight, plants, & microorganisms to clean & restore waterways & oceans from toxic waste created by human activity. John Todd was honored as SBPN’s 2023 Eco Hero Award.

What is so special about the I Madonnari Festival is watching artists in action, even having an opportunity to talk with them. This year local artist Kristen Sell will be our feature artist, it is her second year working with SBPN.

There is music, food, and people from around the world attending, a wonderful opportunity to meet new friends. SBPN square is located below in the area right below the Mission stairs. Hope to see you there!
