This practicum is part of a shochet training program led by Rabbi Shlomo Zacharow. If you would like to be certified as a shochet, ritual slaughterer, round out your Judaic education or just want to delve into the depths of a surreptitious and often misunderstood profession, then this program is for you!

In this program, learn and discuss the requisite halakhot (laws), the practical aspects of preparing knives, handling of the animals and shehting as well as checking for treifot (signs of being not kosher) and kashering the meat.

Rabbi Shlomo Zacharow is a certified professional shochet (ritual slaughterer) residing in Jerusalem. For several years Rav Shlomo has led a shechita training program to make the ancient art of ritual Jewish slaughter more accessible to communities around the world. Rav Shlomo is also the Chair of the RA Israel Law Committee and the Director of the RA Israel Beit Din for Gittin.
