This introductory wood turning class is your perfect opportunity to discover the magic of shaping wood on a lathe! Join us for a hands-on workshop where our experienced instructors will guide you, step-by-step, through the exciting process of turning your very own wooden bowl. We'll be utilizing Rockler's user-friendly carbide turning tools, known for their ease of use and consistent results, making them ideal for beginners. In this class, you will learn:

  • Stock Selection: Understand how to choose the right piece of wood for your bowl, considering grain, stability, and character.
  • Chucking Techniques: Master the essential methods for securely mounting your wood blank onto the lathe.
  • Bowl Turning Fundamentals: Learn the basic techniques for safely and effectively shaping your bowl using carbide turning tools.
  • Different Bowl Finishes: Explore various options for protecting and enhancing the natural beauty of your finished bowl.

What's Included:The class fee covers comprehensive instruction from our skilled woodturners, all the wood needed to create your bowl, sandpaper for refining your piece, and the finishing materials to bring out its luster.

At the end of this fulfilling day, you'll have a beautiful, handmade wooden bowl to proudly take home and cherish! All participants receive a 15% discount on merchandise purchased in the store on the same day of their class. Exclusions apply. Consider 1 on 1 private instruction.
