About the Farm
Background
Founded in 2014 by Yosef and Havah Camire, the farm began as a homestead to connect their family to the land and has grown into a 350-member CSA with a focus on providing the purest food possible. Initially aimed at feeding their own family, the farm now serves a wider community with a mission to offer health, healing, and love through their produce.
Practices
The farm operates on 100% solar power and adheres to a strict no-chemical policy, surpassing Certified Organic standards. They employ tractor-free methods, deep mulching, no-till practices, and biodynamic farming to build soil health. Heirloom varieties are prioritized for their flavor, nutrition, and ecological benefits. Water and input conservation are key, and the farm is committed to being carbon negative.
The Rest
The farm also runs a non-profit organization, Ahavah Community Initiative, which donates food to those in need and offers educational programs. The farm's name, meaning 'Love' in Hebrew, reflects their Jewish heritage and commitment to stewardship. The entire family, including their children, is involved in farm operations, contributing to a strong sense of community and shared purpose. They emphasize local food movements, minimizing fossil fuel consumption, and ensuring that food is fresh and locally sourced.
