About the Farm

Background

In 1896, Percy Goss moved to the farm and began farming with his wife Jennie. By 1934, they gifted their son Jim an apple orchard that produced amazing apples. The Goss family left in 1979, and the orchard fell into neglect. In November 2003, the orchard was revitalized and became known as YA YA Farm & Orchard. The farm has a rich history of producing apples, raising Percheron Draft Horses, and maintaining a diverse array of crops. The orchard has undergone significant expansion and rejuvenation since 2004, including the addition of heirloom apple varieties and a vineyard.

Practices

The farm employs traditional orcharding practices, focusing on heirloom apple varieties and maintaining a diverse ecosystem. Percheron Draft Horses are used for farm work and to manage fallen apples, integrating animal husbandry with crop production. The farm has a deep appreciation for fall apple orchard traditions and aims to create a nostalgic experience for visitors.

The Rest

The CSA offers a flexible pick-up schedule and allows members to select their own fruit. Seasonal offerings include apricots, peaches, pie cherries, plums, pears, apples, grapes, arugula, winter squash, turnips, carrots, mixed greens, and pumpkins. The farm also provides fresh bouquets of flowers, fresh-pressed sweet apple cider, and raw honey with each share.
