About the Farm

Background

Touchstone Angus began in 1998 in Elizabeth, CO, founded by Brad James. Initially, it was a small operation with Brad working alongside neighbors to produce superior-tasting beef. In 2000, the business expanded to Lusk, WY, managing a herd of 200-300 cattle and extending sales to Wyoming and Colorado. By 2017, the ranch relocated to Torrington, WY, where it continues to operate. The farm has also partnered with neighboring ranches that share similar practices and genetics. The business has adapted to changes brought by the Covid-19 pandemic, adjusting its sales processes and locker plant usage.

Practices

The cattle are raised on open pastures and are never fed antibiotics or implanted with hormonal growth stimulants. The farm employs over 25 years of research and best practices to ensure high-quality beef. The grass-fed diet enhances the beef's flavor and tenderness, and the cattle are predominantly Angus, known for their well-marbled meat. The beef is naturally dry-aged for about 14 days to further enhance its tenderness and flavor.

The Rest

Touchstone Grass-Fed Beef is sold in whole, halves, and quarters, with most beef processed at a USDA-inspected plant in Elizabeth, Colorado. Customers can pick up their orders frozen or have them shipped if they reside outside Colorado or Wyoming. The beef is known for its health benefits, including higher levels of CLA, Omega-3 fatty acids, beta carotene, and vitamins A and D compared to corn-fed beef. The farm offers affordable pricing based on hanging weight, and customers can customize their beef cuts and packaging.
