About the Farm

Background

Situated by the shores of Lake Keowee, the farm has been a beloved destination for berry picking enthusiasts. Over the years, it has expanded its offerings to include blueberries, blackberries, figs, muscadines, seedless grapes, and pussy willows. Starting in 2013, the farm added gogi berries, persimmons, and fall-bearing blackberries, followed by dwarf black mulberries in 2014. The farm also participates in local farmers markets and has become a cherished part of the community.

Practices

The farm employs a rotational pasture system for raising chickens, ensuring they have fresh pasture regularly. They use Integrated Pest Management (IPM) to minimize the use of chemical pesticides and consider themselves part of the sustainable movement. The farm maximizes the harvest season by planting several varieties of each crop, allowing for an extended picking period from June to early October.

The Rest

Visitors can enjoy a well-maintained environment with mowed grass, picnic tables, free ice water, and a berry buggy to assist handicapped individuals. The farm also offers educational experiences aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles and eating habits. Tour groups are welcome, and the farm provides containers for picking or encourages visitors to bring their own. Additionally, the farm is located near numerous outdoor recreational activities, making it a great vacation destination. They also offer electric car chargers for visitors.
