About the Farm
Background
The farm, located on the slopes of the Blue Ridge Mountains near Shenandoah National Park, was purchased by the Lapham family in 2006 and began operations in 2008. It has a rich agricultural tradition, having been one of Virginia's earliest commercial apple orchards and certified organic since 1996 under the previous owner.
Practices
The farm's philosophy emphasizes linking agriculture with environmental protection. They actively promote native biodiversity, providing habitat for over 120 species of birds, black bears, bobcats, and other mammals, as well as countless varieties of insects, amphibians, reptiles, and plants. Special attention is given to encouraging beneficial species that aid in pollination and pest control.
The Rest
Products are available at the Rappahannock County Farmers’ Market, local stores, and restaurants. The farm places a premium on conserving and improving the natural environment as an integral part of sustainable agriculture.
