About the Farm

Background

Founded by Erik Ohlsen, the Permaculture Skills Center has been serving Northern California since 2005. Known for its comprehensive approach to permaculture, the center has become a hub for those looking to learn and implement sustainable practices. Over the years, it has expanded its offerings to include a variety of apprenticeship programs, public tours, and a farm stand.

Practices

The farm employs a range of permaculture techniques, including rainwater storage, various compost methods, rotational pasture, and beekeeping. These practices are designed to create a self-sustaining ecosystem that benefits both the land and the community. The focus is on regenerative agriculture, which aims to restore and enhance the natural environment.

The Rest

Visitors are welcome on volunteer days, which are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10-2. The farm also offers public tours and can schedule customized private group tours. The farm stand is open on Thursday afternoons, and the CSA begins in May. They currently have an abundance of fresh free-range eggs, a variety of greens, and early crops, with pick-your-own strawberries and flowers available later in the season.
