About the Farm
Background
Sycamore Creek Farm, managed by Richard and Catherine Stickann, is renowned for its award-winning huacaya alpacas. The farm has become a hub for producing high-quality alpaca fiber, which is sold in multiple forms including raw, hand-spun, milled, batts/rovings, and crafted into woven and knitted items.
Practices
The Stickanns dedicate themselves to the care and well-being of their alpaca herd, focusing on producing beautiful and versatile alpaca fiber. Their hands-on approach ensures that the fiber is processed with attention to detail, whether it is sold raw or transformed into various fiber products.
The Rest
Catherine offers Alpaca and Nature Day-Camps during the summer for children aged 9-15, providing an educational experience about alpacas and fiber work. The farm also offers tours, fiber workshops, and private or group lessons in spinning and weaving. Their products are available for purchase on their Etsy store, TheFiberCottage.
