About the Farm
Background
Tucked away in the hills of Schuylkill County, PA, this family farm began its journey in 2008 when the owners moved with a desire to live closer to nature and raise their family in a wholesome environment. Their interest in Piedmontese Beef was sparked in 1997 after an accidental purchase that turned out to be the best beef they had ever tasted. This memory led them to acquire their first five head of Piedmontese cattle in 2009, followed by a herd of about 30 breeding animals and their calves later that year. Over time, the farm expanded to include pastured pork, chicken, and all-natural eggs.
Practices
The farm is dedicated to being excellent stewards of their land and animals, employing natural methods of care in all their practices. They solely grass-feed their Piedmontese cattle from start to finish, enhancing the nutritional qualities of the meat. This breed, known for its 'Myostatin' gene, produces lean, tender beef with less fat, cholesterol, and calories than chicken. The farm's philosophy revolves around producing the healthiest, most tender, and best-tasting beef, alongside other pastured meats, while involving all family members in the care of their animals.
The Rest
The Piedmontese breed of cattle, originating from the mountains of Italy, is known for its unique genetic makeup that results in lean and tender meat. The farm's beef has been shown to have superior qualities in terms of fat content and tenderness compared to other breeds, as confirmed by USDA research. The farm's commitment to grass-feeding and natural care methods ensures that their products are not only healthy but also flavorful and tender. They have a growing base of loyal customers who appreciate the quality of their meats.
