About the Farm
Background
Stony Hill Gardens opened in 1988 with a focus on cut orchid flowers. Over the years, the farm expanded to include a wide range of flowers, herbs, vegetables, and fruits. The farm's history is deeply rooted in the passion of Carol and Dale Davis, who both attended Delaware Valley College and brought their agricultural expertise to the farm. The farm now spans approximately 500 acres and includes 20 acres of orchards with various fruit trees. The Davis family, including their children Dale IV, Brandt, and Kaitlyn, all play integral roles in the farm's operations.
Practices
Stony Hill employs a diverse range of agricultural practices, focusing on both greenhouse and field production. The farm is known for its extensive vegetable and fruit operations, as well as its award-winning orchids. The Davis family emphasizes the conservation of soil, water, and related resources, a commitment recognized by various agricultural societies. The farm also offers a CSA program, allowing customers to receive fresh produce from June through November.
The Rest
Stony Hill features a home store with fresh produce, seasonal plants, baked goods, and family activities such as a 10-acre corn maze. The farm also hosts a Sunflower Festival and offers pre-cut Christmas trees, wreaths, and roping. Visitors can enjoy pick-your-own strawberries, apples, and pumpkins at the Stony Hill Gardens location. The farm is a family-run operation, with each member contributing to different aspects of the business, from greenhouse management to market operations.
