About the Farm
Background
The farming practices were originally necessitated by the fact that the family has two sons with autism who are allergic to many different things. Good, wholesome, cleanly grown food strengthened their immune systems, making the family keenly aware of the value of providing good food to other area families. The CSA was opened in spring 2016 on a historic farm in Bucks County by an award-winning former chef.
Practices
Joel farms biodynamically, using no pesticides of any kind, no synthetic fertilizers, and no GMO seeds. The soil is enriched with compost, leaf mulch, alfalfa meal, and seaweed extract. Native hedgerows are used to attract beneficial insects and birds.
The Rest
Over 100 varieties of vegetables are featured over a 26-week season, offered for $600 for a full share and $400 for a half share. Members receive a cookbook explaining the preparation of all varieties of vegetables and recipes to cook them.
