About the Farm
Background
Established in July 2009 by John, Yvonne, and JP Cooper, the farm began with the purchase of four heifers and a foundation bull from KP Ranch in Nebraska. Over the years, the farm has expanded its herd and gained recognition for its award-winning cattle at the NC State Fair. The Coopers have also been involved in raising show-quality Bouvier des Flandres dogs since 1974, producing 29 champions to date.
Practices
The farm adheres to Animal Welfare Approved standards, ensuring high welfare for their cattle. They focus on breeding Miniature Herefords, which are easier to handle, require less space, and cause less damage to pastures compared to larger cows. The cattle are halter trained, making them manageable and pleasant to work with. Their diet primarily consists of good grass, which they thrive on and prefer over other foods.
The Rest
The farm has been celebrated for its achievements at the NC State Fair, winning numerous Grand Champion titles in various categories. Visitors are encouraged to stop by and see the herd and new arrivals. The Coopers' dedication to both their cattle and dogs highlights their commitment to quality breeding and animal care.
