About the Farm
Background
Farming in Guilford County has been part of the Smith family heritage for five generations, with three generations currently working together to keep the tradition alive. Known for their greenhouses full of ferns and flowers, as well as their fresh produce, the family is involved in every stage of growing North Carolina produce, from seed to sale.
Practices
The farm raises its own fruit and vegetable plants from seed, ensuring that 100% of what they sell is grown on their land. They meticulously manage every aspect of the farming process, from dropping seeds and monitoring young plants in greenhouses, to field preparation, planting, weeding, watering, harvesting, and finally, selling directly to the public. This hands-on approach ensures a true farm-to-fork operation.
The Rest
Seasonal produce is available at their on-site produce stand from Monday through Saturday and seven days a week at the Piedmont Triad Farmers Market. The farm also participates in various farmers markets in and around Guilford and Alamance County, including the Greensboro Farmers Curb Market and the Elon Farmers Market. They accept various forms of payment, including WIC, SNAP, and Senior Nutrition vouchers at some locations.
