About the Farm
Background
The farm has been in the family for three generations, farming rich prairie land in Northwest Iowa. In 2005, the family began transitioning to organic farming due to health issues caused by chemicals, achieving full organic certification by 2016. The teamwork of four families manages multiple parts of the farm, with each member contributing their unique skills and talents.
Practices
The farm employs rotational grazing on pastureland to improve soil health and capture carbon. Animals are raised using methods that mimic their natural behaviors. The farm's practices emphasize organic farming, avoiding chemicals, and focusing on soil health and animal welfare.
The Rest
The farm attends two Farmers Markets during the summer, selling breads and meats. They offer farm tours, are members of Practical Farmers of Iowa, and occasionally host internships and apprenticeships. The farm family enjoys sharing their products and philosophy with the community, emphasizing the importance of growing food they want to eat themselves.
