About the Farm
Background
Golden Earthworm Organic Farm, a first-generation family farm, was established in 1994 as the first Certified Organic vegetable farm on Long Island’s North Fork. Farmers Matt Kurek and Maggie Wood began growing for CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) to create a reliable market and direct community connection. After 30 years on Long Island, the farm moved to southern Vermont in 2023, working with the Vermont Land Trust to preserve the farmland through a conservation easement.
Practices
The farm is committed to Organic and Regenerative farming, combining innovative methods with ancient practices to honor the land. They focus on building and nourishing the soil for future generations while growing USDA-Certified Organic produce. The farm acknowledges its location on Abenaki land, one of the earliest known farm sites along the Connecticut River, with documented archaeological evidence.
The Rest
The farm offers a variety of CSA shares, including vegetable, fruit, and egg shares, and provides resources such as weekly newsletters, recipes, and a vegetable guide to support their community. They celebrate 30 years of organic farming and continue to feed thousands of families across Long Island through their authentic farm share program.
